Lack of boost and supercharger whine

Recently the performance of my 300tdi has been dropping off gradually. It picks up the same as it always has, and if you accelerate smoothly through the rev range it pulls "OK".

When I first got it it would quite happily pull up a certain hill at 55 with ease. However it now drops to at least 50 and feels flat. So I'm guessing I have a boost issue somewhere? All pipes appear to be good, although I may renew them anyway.

Occasionally if I accelerate hard I hear a whine which sounds like a supercharger from the engine bay. I can see that there is a small weap of oil coming from the inlet manifold gasket which could be where it's escaping from.

Does anyone with experience have any ideas what the noise could be or where I should look first? The turbo sounds fine when it spools and sounds as a turbo should. The EGR valve is blanked off between the valve and the boost pipe and unplugged. Would it be worth while blanking it between the manifold too? Don't really want to remove it completely with these new MOT regs coming in.

Many thanks

Supercharger whine could be timing belt too tight, or tracking if its not got the modded pulleys

Check inside pipes for delamination, cleaning out the intercooler could help too

Haven't actually removed the pipes to check but will be buying a new set of silicone pipes soon. The whine is intermittent which I only hear once every ten journeys or so, so it's confusing me a bit. Will be sending it to my mate soon for a service so will get him to investigate!

Cheers

Having searched around a bit on some forums I think I may get the lift pump changed when I get it serviced. There's no black smoke now when I put my foot down. It used to smoke a little when it was boosting, so that would indicate it isn't getting as much fuel as it used to.

May have a boost leak too, but then there would be black smoke from unburnt diesel!

Will update after it's been serviced!
