Hello,
I have searched the forums and can't find a thread on this subject, apologies if here is one.

I have purchased an L405 (new shape Range Rover - I hope I have the code correct) and it has a Land Rover Supplied and Fitted Retractable Towbar, what I am trying to discover is, is the ball painted black or it that the natural colour? I ask as it looks natural, apparently I need to remove the paint (if painted before first use) I don't want to try and remove paint if its not painted - risk of ball damage etc.

Many thanks

Its finished in black, a little blob of grease can help if your keeping the car for longer than 3 years with regualr towing but otherwise it should be ok for the average 2 years most owners will have it, all theres a recall on the module that controls it, contact your dealer/retailer to see if yours is covered by it

Its a BPW not ALKO, but same reasons, it has stabiliser friction pads, so NO grease, and no paint, just can't determine if the ball is painted or not.

Thanks its a black finish not paint, as noted can't grease it. Its only three weeks old (tow bar - not car) so should be good as fa as recalls go :)

Not towed with a land rover for 20+ years only towed them! So sounds like I need to get used to squeaky balls, in the old days the bade style stabiliser used to make a heck of a noise :(
