I was driving on my way to the topgear show this evening when all of a sudden the engine just decided to die. It starts but to keep it alive you have to put your foot down which keeps the engine at about 200rpm. AA bloke was stumped to no surprise. He thought it was the air intake at start but fiddled around with it to no joy. He then put petrol in it with no joy.

Was my first thought too... I did say that but after all he is AA -_-

If he's still there make sure he doesn't drain your battery and upset your air suspension. When my fuel pump failed the AA guy tried turning the ignition so much he upset the air suspension and they had to send the JLR tech out, when I got her back, to reset it!:mil33:

There were none. I recently had work done on the sender unit. The guy said it had just 'fallen apart' so he assembled it and it worked. However, the fuel gauge is working on it... It sounds like its being starved of fuel/air

Hi, we're there any warning lights/screen messages? When my fuel pump failed I had several :darth_vader:

Got to say when mine failed there were no warnings, no messages. Until the AA guy drained the battery, which led to the air suspension inactive message!

Yep now my warning lights are on after the AA drained the battery's it says 'HDC inactive' and 'air suspension warning'

:/
Yep either the battery is low or the Steering angle Sensor needs to be reset......

Start engine and turn full lock to the left and hold for 3 seconds, full lock right and hold for 3 seconds, back to centre this should cancel the warnings.

Oh....

Sounds like fuel starvation to me....

There is a Schreider Valve on the Fuel rail under the acoustic cover.....

Get a rag and a small-ish screwdriver and using the the rag to catch any spurt, press the schreider valve in a tad, the fuel under pressure should be around 2.5 bar (about 38psi) so it should squirt out, if it dribbles - you have little fuel pressure....

I changed my in tank pump about 4 weeks ago - the how to is at the top of the Range Rover Forum....dead simple to do!
