Hello Landy Lovers... just had me Mrs ask me what I want for xmas... well as it happens I was wondering is it worth changing that viscous fan for a kenlowe type one ??.. will this upset the sensitive electric system on these cars..? has anyone done this conversion and benefited ?... as always your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.. many thanks Stuart.... by the way if its a 'no go' then im back to socks and pants and a ruddy chocolate orange for xmas...:(

Hi

Im not sure about the L322 mate but my P38 and a lot of people on here have converted to either the air con fans for cooling or like you asked the Kenlowe type and had really good results mines ALOT quieter and I think its got abit more go ( placebo or not )

Hope that helps you alittle

Personally IMO I would stick with the viscous and not F about with it.
The V8's run hotter than diesels and over the past few months overheating/cooling issues are evident on the forum with the V8's.
Just ensure it's working properly :)

Hi.. I must admit im in two minds... I have no cooling issues. (that's jinx it).. it was just a thought about bhp being soaked up /more mpg angle really....

Power loss, hmm well I've driven both diesel and V8 322's and can't say either are down on power so to speak, even less so with the V8!!

As for MPG, I think you 're probably talking about loosing 5% perhaps with the viscous. So if you average 15 MPG your talking about being 0.75mpg better off.
Work out how long 0.75MPG would cost to pay off £100/200 worth of fan and you're talking ALOT of miles to break even.... ;)

Even if you were getting 1 MPG extra, that means 15 gallons of fuel and getting 1 free essentially.
15 gallons of petrol at £1.20 litre £82.72 to gain £5.44 'extra, free'
Approx 275 gallons of fuel to break even on a £100 fan.
275 gallons of fuel = 4125 miles / £1497 on petrol.

Now my maths was never great, esp on a sat night after a few beers, so ready to be corrected...!! :p

I would not touch the cooling on the L322, far too complex. Kenlowe have a poor reputation for reliability these days and would just add to the list of L322 reliability problems IMO.

Hi.. thank you for your thoughts. . I think it may be best left alone... if it aint broke dont fix it.. oh well pants , socks and a chocolate orange it is then....
