Hi,
I was looking through a manual I got a while ago for my 2002 RR 4.4 V8 L322 and came across this useful info that worked for me today to reset my key.

When I got my car only 1 of the keys worked even though the red light flashed when pressed on the other. Anyway used the procedure below and hey presto both keys now activate the locking, hope this helps.

Reset Procedure for your key fobs
Every signal from the remote handset contains the transmitter identification code and a rolling code. The BCU checks
the codes and only responds if the signal is from a valid transmitter. During vehicle production, the remote handsets
supplied with the vehicle are initialised to set their individual transmitter identification codes and synchronise their
respective rolling codes with the BCU. If a transmitter loses synchronisation with the BCU, or if a replacement or
additional remote handset is to be used with the vehicle, the initialisation procedure must be repeated. During the
procedure, all remote handsets for use with the vehicle must be initialised.
Initialisation Procedure
1 Ensure the vehicle is unlocked and the driver and front passenger doors are closed.
2 Install a key/remote handset in the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to position I and back to position
0 in less than 5 seconds to put the BCU into the initialisation mode. Continue the procedure within 30 seconds
of turning the ignition switch to position 0.
3 Remove the key/remote handset from the ignition switch.
4 Press and hold the unlock button for a maximum of 15 seconds. During this time, momentarily press the lock
button three times within 10 seconds.
5 Release both buttons.
6 Successful initialisation is indicated by the BCU locking then unlocking the vehicle. If this does not occur, repeat
step 4.
7 Repeat steps 4 and 5 with all other remote handsets belonging to the vehicle (4 maximum). Begin the
initialisation of each remote handset within 30 seconds of completing the previous initialisation, or the BCU will
drop out of the initialisation mode and the complete procedure will have to be started again.

Please help, I have tried the above and it did'nt work so I put the old key that did work in and did it with that one. Now I have no keys that work the central locking or alarm! The car has to be locked by inserting the key in the door locks

That's an American market security feature, one press opens drivers door two presses opens passenger doors. Are they all like that I wonder? If not it must be possible to change the BCU settings probably with diagnostics.
You must be a pretty impatient fellow if pressing a button twice ****es you off:flame:My mates VW is the same and can't be changed:)

Not sure but the jag xf has that feature and can be changed in car, not sure how similar the range rover and jag infotainment system is

I have the L322 2002 and now I have the same problem.
I can't lock or unlock the door using the remote. I have to do it manually. The alarm doesn't work even if I unlock the door manually and I don't have any problems with ignition etc. I have tried the Initialisation procedure but nothing happened.

I went to the authorized Land Rover Dealer and they said that they have to analyze the electrical function which can take more than a week because they are not sure if it is caused by the malfunction of the remote key and I asked how much they sell for the remote key if I insist to buy. They said it cost me US$ 650.

Now I'm a bit ****ed that I have to lock or unlock manually.

Can you guys help me how to solve the problem?

Couple of mins work with Testbook to edit the config in the body control unit. Its called Single point entry, switched it off on a Freelander TD4 yesterday for a mate.

Thanks alot for that.
I followed the procedure and managed to reset mine today after both key remotes had failed to work.
I wonder though, why did the remotes fail in the first place?
I only had the car tyres changed and when I collected it the alarms were not working. Is there anything the tyre fellows could have done to mess them up??

Tried several times unsuccessful each time, has any one got a video of doing it encase I am doing dome thing wrong?
Thanks :)

I tried the normal procedure and it wouldn't work no matter how many times I tried.
Then I found out that my 2004 RR Vogue transmits at 433Mhz. Which as it happens my Weather Station also transmits at.
So I removed the Weather Station batteries and the key programming worked first time.
As you can imagine, I have now re-sited the Weather Station along way from my garage.
Does anybody want a weather station?
