Hi all,

Got a BMW era l322, 2004 td6 SE. It has halogen reflector lamps, a bird strike today cracked my headlamp lens, so I figure it's a good opportunity to swap to xenon. I can source the lamps just fine as I don't intend on facelifting it, and the first gen l322 headlamps are for sale everywhere, but my concern is.. is the LCM the same on halogen and xenon models, or would I need to recode mine.

Thanks

I'd stick with the Halogen, read up on a thread by Saint V8 on the troubles caused by a HID failure.

Yep, Xenon blew and took out the entire vehicle diagnostic buses - never figured out how the blown xenon lamp did so much damage - but after 18 months, out of the blue, the diagnostics buses came back to life - but the 18 months in between meant that diagnostics on any system other than the engine was impossible.

On the LCM, it will need programming to reflect the changes I would guess.

Happy New Year Ant, hope you & yours are all well.:D
