I've been driving a 2000 P38 4.6 on lpg for about six years, and am thinking about updating to an L322. An '03 TD6 Vogue has caught my eye, and I'd appreciate any advice you folks may have to offer about the model and year. Will I find the diesel gutless after being used to the V8, even if I got the oil burner remapped? Are there any major issues I should be aware of?

Thanks, j and gav. I've printed the VOSA recall details for reference. I checked out a website for info on the L322 and it contained these warnings:

Front diff life is typically 40k-60k miles, costs £4,000 to replace.
Instrument pack tends to last around 70k miles, costs £1,200 to replace.
Transmission usually lasts about 100k miles, costs £6k to replace.

That's sobering in the extreme. Is it true? Again, I'd appreciate any advice.

Front Diff is a recall item, and shouldn't cause any problems after that.
Instrument pack im sure can be replaced with used at fraction of cost.
Was quoted 1400 for full rebuild on the 4.4 transmission, less on the td6.
