Well I've just put a mates test book on and on the air suspention it comes up with a constant CAN bus failure and there is also the abs one as I've mentioned. What is a can bus? I think you could be right as is this can bus is a sensor like a ride Hight sensor that is less than an inch from the rear alignment adjuster I bet he has knocked it when pi@&ing about!

The CANbus is the data network the vehicle runs on - Car Area Network Bus - the EAS ECU will log a fault as the ABS system is in fault and the CANbus ties the ABS, EAS and other items together....you'll also note the Gearbox ECU and the Transfer Box ECU will also register a CANbus fault...

The CAN works on a packet transfer system....a message is sent with a recipient address...this packet bounces down the CAN wires into each ECU in turn...they then read the Address and if it is not for them, they pass it along until the right ECU is reached....if one ECU in the chain is in fault the message transfer stops and as such the other ECUs will register a CANbus fault as they can no longer send or receive information....

Your EAS is no doubt fine and the cause is the ABS Pre Charge Pump that is halting network traffic on the CAN...

Ok so are there any known abs pump faults ? Or anything I can do or is it time for a new one ?

It is either:

ABS ECU can be remanufactured and repaired...there is a company who do it, BBA Reman or something like that

And you wouldn't swap an L322 for a P38 ?:D:D:D

So where is this pump ?

Mounted under the Brake Master Cylinder, low down....

In my first post I indicated the Electrical connecter can be damaged by coolant...what I meant was, and my typing was slower than my brain, the ABS ECU electrical connecter can suffer water damage aswell as the Pre Charge Pump electrical connector....

well just got the car back and again its coming up with a ABS pre charge pump fault and the CAN bus fault. he said that it needs diagnostic time as it could be a wiring fault and not the pump. a OE pump is £1200 new. the car is under warranty still so ive given the dealer a call and surprise surprise his warranty does not cover braking systems and will only cover starter or alternators which is not what he said when i bought the car so he is leaving me high and dry.
i don't no what to do now i need the car back on the road asap as were off on our hols on the 21st.

if any one wants to call me plz do 07506477352 i need help

11 feb this year

I've powered up this pre pump and it runs there only 2 wires so to me this tells me it's wiring or what controls the pre pump
Any views ???

ABS ECU, however as you only got it in February, I'd dump it back at the dealer to fix, sale of goods act, unfit for purpose. Fanatic is the expert.

Well I'm gathering all I can to hit him back with but mean while I need to get the car sorted in a week before our hols! If anyone can help

I'm sorry, but I think you will be lucky to get it resolved in a week. Tell the dealer to fix it, sale of goods act etc and that you want a loan car while he's doing it.
What year is the car?

+1 sadly these l322s are traded in when anyone gets a problem, the op prob ended up with it. a warrantee in most cases aint worth the toilet paper its written on ,folk who don't understand them buy them as a status symbol then get a total leg wobbler when it goes wrong & trade it in against anything avail on the forecourt. always keep 2k spare for emergency repair work when you own a l322:(infact everything I have ever sent mine in for repair/breakdown work its never cost me less than £500 to fix:(

It's a 03 plate and bar this in the short time it's been brill and it's in stunning condition.
I just want it bk on the road now at any cost if i can do it my self I will do. I just need to work out how things work and how to test them I think

ok so im reading up on these CAN bus etc so I im right CAN but is basically a wire harness. how do you test these CAN bus and were is the ABS ECU?
