L322 brake servo leak

My 2005 L322 has developed a brake servo leak (I think). It started after a heavy braking incident, cause some fool who pulled out on me. I stopped ok so no damage or anything. The ABS activated briefly but then ever since, after a second or 2 on the brakes, the brake pedal becomes really hard and i have to stamp on it. Brakes all work fine just needs more force.

When braking I can also hear what sounds like an air leak coming from behind the speedo (right where the servo is).

Does anyone have any experience with problems on the brake servo on an L322? Also how hard is it to replace? I have the workshop manual so I could work through it, but any advice or checks i can do first would help me loads.

So I learn something every day, just checked RAVE and it does indeed have a vacuum servo. Are you sure the vacuum pipe is not leaking?

Thanks Datatek. I've had a quick look today but it's really fiddly in there. I'll get the bonnet up properly and have a good look in there asap.

I hope it is a hose leak as a new one is £200+ although just found a used one on ebay for £90.

Maybe LR realised after all the boost pump failures and accumulator issues on the P38, and late classics, going back to older, proven tech was the way to go!!!

Word of note: Whilst £200 is a lot of cash - never scrimp on Brake parts...whilst the Eblag one may be cheaper it is also second hand...regardless of warrenty or guarantee given by the vendor....for peace of mind go new on brake and steering parts, as these two system can save your life!
