L322 Alternator replacement.

Hi All - Herald here - I've been a member for a few years now and I've had my L322 04 4.4 V8 Vogue for three years without issue. But my luck has just run out. The alternator has just failed. Is this a job that a pretty basic mechanic could tackle? Or should I just bite the bullet and get it trailered to a garage. I've got the RAVE discs, but no windows computer to run them on till tomorrow.

Can be done yourself if your are handy with a spanner....

If you can do it yourself that is the best option as the Alternator could set you back quite a bit as it is...

Cheaper to overhaul the alternator than replace it, diode pack, regulator & brushes, maybe bearings while you are at it.

Those bad boys are water cooled. I would go for the rebuild option
