L322 4.4v8 2002 Crank no start or start v rough idle

Morning everyone, I could do with some help please on my 02 Vogue. It seems to have developed Coronovirus after changing the offside cam cover.

summary of testing :

codes , fairly consistent cam sensor .
I’ve tested both with a meter and both sides operate. Changed them over no change.
Replaced crank sensor which gave intermittent continuity.
All coil towers providing a spark Using spare plug to test.
When I get it to run it seems to be running on the near side bank. Disconnecting the offside coil feeds doesn’t change the engine running at all.
Fuel pressure is 3.4 bar at the rail and pressure remains good.
Disconnecting the maf stalls the engine.
Offside injectors produce a strong spray pattern onto paper towel
When trying to start it tries to backfire.

I've not worked on that engine (though I have spent some time driving the later TDV8s ). Does it have both crankshaft and camshaft sensors?
To me the symptoms seem to match the code you are getting. Is there any chance you could have damaged the wiring to the sensor when changing the cam cover?
The signals from these sensors are tiny currents, they are susceptible to electromagnetic interference and so the cables are shielded. Could the shielding have been damaged?

Thanks for your input. There are two cam sensors and one crank.

Yes it is possible. I will add it to the list to con check back to the Ecu pins.

Considering the fact that removing the coil leads causes no change the running of the engine would suggest it is time to check the wiring harness from the EBox to the Coils etc.

Check the earth straps to number three coil 2 wires and both need to be connected. Very easy to miss one which iv done before.

Thanks for the pointers guys. Much appreciated. I’m getting a healthy spark at each of the offside cylinders so I guess the earth and coil wiring must be ok.
I con checked both of the cam sensor signal wires back to the ecu and they were fine. Removed both sensors today and watched the signal drop as I put metal next to each one.
I’m now wondering if I bent the sensor ring on the end of the camshaft when replacing the cover ?
I put the Maxicom on today and it sees the misfires and the two sensors look v different .

Removed the cam cover and there it was , spinning freely on the end of the camshaft. The nut was loose too. Glad I hadn’t bent it. Looks like last person in there didn’t tighten the nut.
Dont see any damage. Just got to time it to the shaft now.
