Hi guys, got abit of an annoying fault with my gearbox, when its stood overnight it will not start in park comes up with trans failsafe and no led on dash to tell you which gear you are in, put it in n and led comes on and you can start it and drive away,go around the block switch it off and it will be fine in p again, not sure if it sounds like an oil problem draining back when its stood overnight but drives ok all the time. any idea`s would be most appreciated.

Thanks Datatek but i can get the fault every morning when i go to start it. The way i thought it worked, was if it does not start in park it should not start in neutral as there is only 1 inhibitor switch.

Look carefully when you park up. Does the dash tell you that you're in park?

Yes. it is only off after it has stood all night, switch on in morning no gear light on dash, no crank, move to neutral gear lighton dash comes on and then it starts, drive round block switch off engine put ignition back on and park led works every time till next morning.

Weird, but I'd still go for the switchgear at the lever. I'm a P38 man so don't know exactly what you've got on this new-fangled horseless carriage.
I'm imagining that it's close enough to operate the swich when you put it into park but it then 'relaxes' or cools or something overnight just enough for it to lose contact. If I'm close then it's a very slight adjustment needed.
