Hi (again!);
Got a passenger door that won't lock or unlock using the key fob or the button on the dash. The other locks are fine and the lever in the passenger door panel locks and unlocks it normally. So does that mean an actuator replacement or can I hit something to cheer it up??

I have a hammer, so all solutions have become hammer shaped!

Thought that might be the case. There's a guy on Ebay selling the motor that powers the lock for about £20 or a whole pile of actuators for £20 to £40. Wondering which one to get. They can't all be bad on Ebay?

Hi

also had to replace door lock actuators , if u use the combination of someone on the door handle and using the door lock buttons inside at the same time ur in for some fun I’m afraid

as in getting the door panel off whilst the door is still locked , plus as u lock the other doors they will superlock , which will give u even more problems

If u can get the door open, remove the door card quick as that will be some of the battle

personally I bought complete locks , they have 2 x motors inside , one that locks and other unlocks , u can just change the motors but that’s in the basis the internal cogs haven’t worn out

Have got the full process of changing the actuator lock if u get stuck , plus either some gaffa tape to hold the glass up as u need to remove the glass sliders and mechanism out, I got some window suckers to hold the glass up

Plse see if u can open the door first , ref actuators I bought genuine ones £90, but there bearmach ones as well

hope that helps

Thanks for that, luckily I can lock and unlock the door using the little lever on the top of the inside door handle. I suppose the safest way is to buy the whole mechanism. There is a youtube video (isn't there always!) that shows how to take the door card off so my tablet will get set up on a stool alongside the door and we'll give it a go. Just have to order the right part. Thanks for the offer of the process to do it, I might get back to you on that when I get in a muddle!

Can you use one from the other door to confirm the power supply and signal before going any further? Hopefully that would shed some light. :D

no probs

here’s also a guide for u , plus the window suckers I used to hold the glass up, was easier than messing around with gaffa tape

Thanks for that breakdown, I'll just have to finish the kitchen upgrade :)() before I can get round to sorting this out.

And Mark, do you mean use another existing lock mechanism from elsewhere in my wagon in place of the broken one to check it all out. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Exactly mate, it may point you in the right direction, as long as the plugs are the same. ;)

I'll see how much fun taking off the door card is before trying another one!! They never seem to look the same when I refit them.:(

actually it’s not too bad , did get some tool removal tools that were very handy

also got hold of some second door handles , sanded them down and re sprayed a full set so I’ll have to remove every door card , window mechanism along with holding the glass up , oh joy, lol

of u get stuck of course plse shout and one of us can help u

Thanks for all the offers, I will keep you all posted when I get going and get this sorted. First have 15 kitchen doors to change, handles to fit, install led lighting and new electrics before I'm let loose to fix the car (after4 having retiled) which is obviously not as important!!

so that’s a morning work should be able to fit the new actuator in the afternoon, snigger;):p

Plse let us know how u get on , if u get stuck with the cable on the door handle Plse let us know as there’s a few tricks

I wouldn't bother trying to test the door actuator by plugging in another from a different door, it's just not worth the time.
I've bought them off Amazon for £25 each, and they seem to work just fine. For the small outlay, it's not worth messing about trying them from different doors. There's no guarantee that the wiring to the individual actuator assembly is the same between different doors anyway, so you could end up damaging the door control module, which is then more work, as they need programming.

Right, finished the kitchen (took 10x as long as everything seems to do). Manged to get a bit of overtime in at work so have booked the car in for the lock job to be done properly by a professional whilst he doeas a couple of other bits. Wimping out I know but I know my skillset!!
On a totally different subject seeing as you all seem to know stuff here's a new question....
My mate has and ex military landy and it is an unusual one. He's trying to work out if it is worth restoring, but no-one can say if it would be worth doing the job. Spec is:

1958 series 1.
2 Wheel drive from the factory.
2 litre engine (not the 2.25).
One of 610 made.

It's a bit ropey, but all there.
Any ideas or should I start a new thread somewhere?
