I have a 2001 td4 with the rear shaft removed, the problem is when i go over a hill I get strong vibration under the drivers feet. This ONLY happens when your foot is on the accelorater, if I take the foot off the gas no vibration . any help much apprieciated.

Errrrr, Jack the front end up ( using axle stands to support) then spin the wheels up by hand you should feel a rough rumble transmitting from the cv joints if they're knackered, if they are that badly worn then they will have some up and down lift which shouldn't be present. Imo thats what I'd check first :)

now after a long night in the shed i have loads to report......... I HATE LANDROVERS !!!!!!!!! lol now I have that out of the system, got no noises out of cv joints but, there seems to be play (up and down ) on the inner not too much but I would have thought they should'nt have any play in them at all. next step new drive shaft ????????

A good way IMHO to test the inner CV joints is to drive under power at say 40 MPH and then you need to take a bend or have space to safely sway the car from one side to the other. Say your RH Inner CV is worn, then you may feel the vibration taking a RH bend, but it will go away when you take a LH bend. I think what you may have when you go over a hill is the suspension un-weighting, and increasing the angle of the inner CV. Using the swaying thing may tell you which one.

Just pull back the boot and repack it with cv grease! That normally sorts inner joints if they've gone dry. Outers knock on full lock going round corners if theyre knackered.

New driveshafts are very cheap on ebay, got one the other day for £35 with free delivery and 2 year warranty. Be careful about letting a worn O/S inner CV joint run for a long time as it can damage the bearings on the IRD making this a very expensive repair.
