I have a 300tdi 94 58000 miles

Knocking noise is from rear left pass side and happens when going over bumpy roads (what roads aren’t:rolleyes:)

I have put new shocks on which it did need.
Next step is new springs as I thought it was the rear shocks
Any ideas

Thanks

James

Bushes.

Depending on the age/useage of your disco they could all be getting close to needing replacement, but 60k, on a 94 motor sounds unusually low mileage wise, but unless already replaced that rubber will be 15 years old now

Anti roll bar link ball joints? Might not be the corner you think, they knock when worn.

Also likely to be the A-frame bush, or the trailing arms. If it's the trailing arm, replace both sides at the same time, not worth skimping over, IMHO.

you know how sound travels? Just a thought but wedge some rag in rear door along bottom n/s cos if catch worn can give horrible knockin noise that isnt imedeatly obvios were it coming from. worth a try?

My rear door does that sometimes - drives me nuts. Sounds like it's not shut properly, but it is.

I must try that rag trick.
