Hi all ... sure you've all done it but I was driving home from work tonight having decided to take the Landy with its lovely new 12 months MOT and thinking it is driving really well when ........ I came to pull away from a junction, went to change gear and the clutch pedal was rock solid ... wouldn't move in the slightest. I've managed to get towed home by a mates Disco3 but am at a loss on this. Although I have been learning lots about my 90 recently thanks in the main to you guys I haven't a clue when it comes to gearboxes and clutches. Could this be a simple seized linkage or more likely to be a clutch replacement? If it helps the brake pedal seemed spongier than normal as I sat there waiting for my tow home but I don't know if the two could be related at all by way of the pedal box. I didn't hear a noise at all when it happened so sure nothing bad has broken. Once again can anyone help with this?
Many thanks. :(

Thanks guys ... that'll be a garage job then, that one's beyond me. I'm assuming it's pretty much the same size job ie box out whether you change the fork or the whole clutch?
If anyone could give me a guideline as to what I should expect to pay with me supplying the clutch and fork that would be great.
Cheers.

Understand mate

My Landy is currently in bits, my Z4 has just (tonight) got it's 3rd runflat puncture in 5 months and just spent £270 on a tyre to get my wife's 330d M sport through it's first MOT

As they say sh!t happens, but we love our vehicles and just have to roll with the punches.

Hopefully where you are some LZ members will be able to help.

Me - have just ran out of kidneys to sell :D

You'll get it sorted, and then it will be one less thing on the list to replace - top advice by the way on other bits to get replaced while you're at it

I guess it could be worse SH, it could have caused an accident and I was only two miles from home. Sounds like you've had a tough time of it too fella ... hey, it's only money and my wallet's not big enough to hold more than a tenner anyway so may as well give it away
Spirits up, it's us lot on here that keep each other relatively sane and you know what they say, 'however knackered your Landy is there is always another one worse'.
All the best buddy.

andy - look at wiltshire landymans previous experience... changing a clutch on a landy isn't hard, with a couple of mates about. Seriously!!

£80 for the clutch, £20 to hire a crane, some anti freeze! My personal record, me an 2 mates, is 4 hours.

This same fault, having read about it, is why i welded a piece of 6mm plate across my clutch fork when I last had it out.
