Hiya

Not sure yet what the show will be called, this however was a december press release, despite it ommitting the Land Rover.

Apparently the vehicles have to be sold at auction prior to the broadcast of the shows or it would be deemed to be advertising !!

So I would assume that once the cars have sold the show will start screening at the end of the year, ah looking on said site above, that is today !!

Thats the problem with offroading my rear shoes (without cleaning them out as you should after comps) would last approx 2-3 trials and about a month and a half.

Then Stu started pulling the rear disks off, unfortunatly we could not get the N/S out as he had parked the classic too close to the wall!!

So a few bolts later and we just hauled the back axle off

Did need changing though

saw tonights one Landy next week

Well last week I started using SFF to go to work in. Then on Tuesday I poked my head under the bonnet and was dismayed to see a very cracked fan belt.



So a quick phone call to Dingocroft had a new one ordered for next day delivery.

Wednesday and my package duly arrived at the office.

In eager anticipation I rushed home and armed myself with socket sets and headed to the garage.

Well after removing the battery and fan blades for easier access I loosened off the Dynamo and slipped the old belt off.

Now I did recall a thread on LRSOC about how much of a pig it was replacing a new belt, and sure enough, even with the dyno against the block try as I might I could not get the belt on.

So I had a moment of genius ( for that read Grande Muppiticitude (yes it does scan)) and decided to prise the pulley off the dynamo.

Ar#e !!!!!!!



That’s right, one bust pulley!!

Well, in fairness I have been toying with the idea of converting to an Alternator, a fairly simple task as am already running negative earth, which is why I was ultimately wanting to release the pulley, as it would be needed later for an alternator.

Anyway, after a chat to the Dairy Garage in Tring they pointed me to a brilliant proper auto electrician outfit in Aylesbury called Rees & Allen.

So today I wandered in, had a chat, bought a brand new 45A alternator, he found a pulley and fan to fit the fan belt and hey presto!

So tonight I will most probably be installing this !

ARGH frustration.

Getting there slowly. The alternator is sort of in place. I had to loop it into the belt then try get it onto the top brackets.

The belt really is too short as the alternator axis is further out than the dynamo I can barely get the adjustor bracket on the bottom.

Then I found that the fan pulley had become detached from the water pump spindle and I had to pull it all apart to get it realligned

Then a nut fell into the bottom pulley trapped by the belt so the alternator had to come out again. Then it started getting dark and I had to down tools to wake boy up at 10:30 with a meal before he heads of to work!

I think I have it sussed, but am worried about the tightness of the belt before I get the adjustor arm on

OK, Now the little feller is in.





As you can see the bottom of the alternator was pulled taught just to get the bolt into the adjustor bracket !





Now to wire it in.

The simple option is to run the supply from the alternator to the battery feed on the starter switch. However a series 1 of course has an ameter in the dashboard.

So to ameter or not to ameter?

Anyway, just trying to get my head around the correct wires to join from the vlotage regulator. As you can see the chaps that rewired the 80 years ago decided to use red wire for virtually everything, although they did but numbers on some of them!

As you can see I am a bit spoiled for a fusebox on an 80" a whole extra 7 fuses !!!

Think I shall pop a new 10 position blade type fuse box in place at the same time. Just to add extra capacity.
