Am i wrong in assuming that when you lock with the keyfob that all four indicators are supposed to flash?
Only just realised it but its always been that way that on mine, its my rear lights (ordinary red rears) along with the front indicators, that flash when i lock.
I have the very occasional problem of these same lights coming on at random when parked up, and if not noticed they will drain the battery over a period of time. All the lights work fine as they are supposed to so dont think its anything mis-wired. my thoughts were its prob either dirty connection/ occasional short, or another becm hissy fit. what are your thoughts?

Sounds like a dodgy earth somewhere....

On locking....

Indicators Flash once for Normal Locking....
Indicators Flash three times when you 'Super Lock' (Press the lock button twice in quick succesion)

On Unlocking the Indicators flash Once.

ok thanks, thats 2 of you with the same answer so next question where to start looking. got a basic meter but 'lectrics have never been my strong point. where and how to test????

Start in the lamp cluster and check that for good contacts. L/H lamp cluster earth point is given as E0809. R/H as E0565. Pictures of these locations in RAVE electrical trouble shooting. All these are switched by BECM so connections to that maybe dirty.

That all depends on BECM settings, it can be as above, or side light flash or no flash. The BECM sometimes takes it upon itself to arbitarily change the settings:eek:
Also worth checking the connectors at the BECM especially if the carpet is damp:) Could be corrosion. If you need to clean connectors, do not use WD40, get some contact cleaner:):)

Data, after seeing you comment i looked and found that the front sidelights flash as well, so none of the indicators flash just the sidelights. so that might solve the mystery. Is that an individual becm setting or is anythng else related too it?
Will check the becm connections for corrosion, but inside of the car is dry no dampness anywhere.

In which case stop worrying.
The BECM can be set to flash indicators or sidelights or nothing because different countries require different things. It's just one of those things that can be switched in the BECM by one of the high octane diagnostic systems. Either a previous owner has set them this way or the BECM has had a funny turn and changed it, these old electronics can be a bit funny, but it won't affect anything else.
