you cant programme it to your car.

hi bought same off ebay , could not do that one but john from cargas in stoke on trent changed my configeration setting in bcim and changed mine to austraiin.my remote buttons dont work but it starts and locks and arms its self, ive found this better no doors locking on there own or flat battery problems,ok i have to put key in door lock to open and disarm it but alot better than locking up on you and wont start ,,hope this helped embo.:D

Why did you not just buy the correct key and fob via a dealer? I know it costs, but then the ebay ones aren't cheap either, and they cannot be programmed to your car. If you are having BECM problems or other issues, then someone with the correct software could unlock the BECM for you and change the config like the prev poster says - Irish Rover will be along soon, I'm sure, and may be able to answer some of the reprogramming queries, but AFAIK, ebay keys are NOT "reprogrammable" to a different car. :)

Expensive way to get a keyfob that does not work. You could have got a key cut at a good locksmith for a fraction of the price.
The BECM can be programmed to accept a key without looking for the fob code. When are people going to realise that the second hand keyfobs will NOT work and CANNOT be programmed despite what the sellers say..."Simply take it to the dealers and they will reprogramme it". Your fob is as much use as a chocolate tea pot and is an expensive ornament.

i like chocolate tea pots!!!

you can get a device that programs any memory chip, i.e car keys and you can change the codes etc. you can even program the fob to operate the stereo and set it to your favourite channel for each key/user.

if you have factory sat nav you can get it to navigate to home everytime you start the car!!

these devices arent cheap tho but you can obviously make a heap of cash from friends, family and workmates if they have a compatible car/key.

ive seen a few on ebay recently!!!

The reset procedure is longwinded and may require a working key to set the system into 'learn' mode....

The procedure is below:

Every signal from the remote handset contains the transmitter identification code and a rolling code. The BCU checks the codes and only responds if the signal is from a valid transmitter. During vehicle production, the remote handsets supplied with the vehicle are initialised to set their individual transmitter identification codes and synchronise their respective rolling codes with the BCU. If a transmitter loses synchronisation with the BCU, or if a replacement or additional remote handset is to be used with the vehicle, the initialisation procedure must be repeated. During the procedure, all remote handsets for use with the vehicle must be initialised.

Initialisation Procedure

1 Ensure the vehicle is unlocked and the driver and front passenger doors are closed.
2 Install a key/remote handset in the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to position I and back to position 0 in less than 5 seconds to put the BCU into the initialisation mode. Continue the procedure within 30 seconds of turning the ignition switch to position 0.
3 Remove the key/remote handset from the ignition switch.
4 Press and hold the unlock button for a maximum of 15 seconds. During this time, momentarily press the lock button three times within 10 seconds.
5 Release both buttons.
6 Successful initialisation is indicated by the BCU locking then unlocking the vehicle. If this does not occur, repeat step 4.
7 Repeat steps 4 and 5 with all other remote handsets belonging to the vehicle (4 maximum). Begin the initialisation of each remote handset within 30 seconds of completing the previous initialisation, or the BCU will drop out of the initialisation mode and the complete procedure will have to be started again.
