I have a 2001 Discovery 2 TD5, which came with one key.

I bought another, had a key blade cut and refurbished with a new body and switches, then coded it in with my Nanocom....The problem is that it will lock and unlock the car fine, fits in the ignition, and turns in the lock, but the starter doesn't spin (yes everything works fine with my other key) - is this some sort of problem with the immobiliser having mixed feelings about the legitamacy of my new key?

Any pointers?

What if you push the unlock button and try to crank it immediately after? try that and if it works that way it means you bought a Rover 75 key which looks the same but doesnt have the rezonator for the remobilisation exciter coil

If it's not that compare the lenght of the blades cos if the non working one is shorter it might not actuate the electric switch which is at the end of the barrel

Tried pushing the lock button this morning, and it worked....but, before you all say Aha, Rover 75 key, it works perfectly now, well so far anyway, try it at home time when it's had a rest

Could be the exciter coil just needed energising....see how we go

You can open the "tricky" fob and see if it has the pointed bit in it or not, if not it's rover fob
