Hi guys

I'm having trouble with my key. Recently the buttons to open and lock the car have stopped working unless you unlock the car first with the key in door then the lock n unlock byutton work on key fob. I have changed the battery in key and have re sync it and got confirmation by doors locking. Any ideas please :confused:

Hi datatek. Does that mean you think my key fob isn't going to work anymore. I have searched forum but everyone with problems include car not starting. The car unlocks and starts no problem with key. The buttons just don't work on fob ( light does come on, on key fob when button is pressed)
Cheers mate

Think another member had similar issues with his keys a few weeks ago. I think he changed the remote fob receiver on the car which fixed the issues.

Hi hippo
Wondering if u could help me. I disconnected the battery to see if resetting things would help. After reconnecting battery I did a resync and all was fine then all of a sudden the fob stopped working and now I have to unlock the door quickly jump in and put key into ignition to stop alarm. The car starts ok after but when I lock up and then unlock alarm goes off again. Is there a way to turn alarm off without fob?
Many thanks

Sounds like you definitely have an issue with the remote fobs or the fob receiver in the car.

Not sure about the alarm, don't think there is a way of turning it off before you get in. I remember reading that the only way of stopping the alarm sounding in this event is to put your keys in and turn on the ignition to stop the alarm.

Been to land rover today they say it's the keys and that I need a new one. They say there is no way off turning alarm off either. They want £145 for a key:eek:

Sounds unlikely that more than one key would fail at the same time, I'd go with Hippo and say the FOB receiver in the car, it really needs diagnostics to be sure.

That's exactly what I said to land rover but they are adamant that it's the keys at fault. I won't be paying for any other work on it land rover will be ;) if they diagnosed wrong
