Disco 2 Key/immob/ign help

My new td5 I picked up yesterday has had a new barrel apparently.
This is the sequence needed to start/lock/unlock the car....

To get in you can press the fob to unlock as normal,then to start the car you have to insert a separate blank key into the ign,then press unlock to deactivate the immobiliser before turning to start.
To lock you have to use the fob key in the door lock to lock it.Apparently using the fob sets off the alarm??
What’s happened here? What’s the solution?
I want two fobs for the car eventually and the same key to start the thing!!

Any help or advice is always appreciated

Check the lock button on the fob is working , is the little red light on the fob lighting up when lock is pressed?

Have a look at my alarm purchasing sticky in the disco section.

Yeah it works it just sets the alarm off

Explain that better, do you mean when you lock with the fob the doors are closing and the alarm starts screaming or how?

Only of use to him if he can get the car programmed to accept it though...

The doors are closed and when you press lock,apparently 15seconds or so later the alarm is blazing
But when locked with the key it’s fine?!

Yeah,I do want a diagnostic device that can do this sort of thing aswell.

I had this exact issue with mine, and it turned out to be the volumetric sensors. I just disabled them using my Nanocom.

that's because there is a problem with the volumetric alarm or something triggers it and when you lock with the key it's disabled by default, that's how it works... nothing wrong with the fob in this case

Cheers fellas that’s one avenue to look down to sort the problem.
Will a new set of sensors help?
Do they need coding in or anything?

Plug an play but inspect them before cos it might be only one at fault.... or you can simply disable that volumetric alarm for good cos IMO it's almost useless

Suppose you could just unplug them for now, they just pop out. Then give it a try..
Took me a while to work out locking it manually with the key doesn't activate them, especially if you need to lock dogs in the car.

If the alarm is not activated if you lock manually with the key, does the passive immobiliser kick in anyway, or does it also remain deactivated? This could solve some issues here... maybe!

the alarm it can be set to "not fitted" and passive immobiliser disabled then the central locking is retained even with the fob but no more immobilisation whatsoever

It kicks in after 5 mins according to the book after the doors are closed

@sierrafery , how is this done? Apart from playing around with the Lynx Evo (without any user manual), I have no experience with diagnostic systems. Even if yours is different to what we eventually work with, it would be helpful to know what sort of functions/features to look out for. Thank you all.

Ideally I would like to keep immobiliser for security and insurance reasons-they will get out of paying however they can at the best of times!!
