Key fob issue and intermitant starting

Hi,
I have just joined, i bought a 2003 d2 td5, 2 years ago,
And I hate the damned thing, its cost me 4000 euros up to now in repairs, but each time I get it fixed and drive again, I remember that its great fun to drive, and kinda want some use for all the money,
after many problems I changed the potentiometer and its driving fine, but now sometimes I turn the key and the dash lights up but it doesn't turn over, after a few attempts,sometimes taking 15 minutes it will turn over, also the key fob no longer works so I cant lock it, anyone any ideas as to what i can try to solve it ?

Hi. For the starting issue check the lucar connector on the starter solenoid cos it used to get loosened but if you hear a loudish click when you turn the ignition you need a solenoid repair kit... for the fob as long as it lights up the most common is the RF roof receiver but if it's not that then complex troubleshooting is needed

Sounds like at least two problems.
I'd start by checking the battery and its connections in both the fob and the car! The terminal connections to the main battery are notorious for being loose due to the stupid design. Try bashing them down with a socket before tightening them. Once you've checked it's giving full juice.

Thanks for the reply. I fitted a new starter motor because of this and it didnt do it for a while. But will check the connection.
