L322 Key fob and alarm

A little annoying but a few times since i've had the car, using key fob remote to open the doors hasn't worked. Frustratingly, the key wouldn't open the drivers door either. Even more frustrating, give it about 10 minutes and it works perfectly. I've seen an advert for 'themasterlocksmith' in London who discribes this very problem. Anybody used them? The door lock sounds mechanical but the stupid key fob? Almost like interference or it's being jammed. It's happened about 4 times in the past 3 years or so, all nowhere near electric or telephone masts. Last time, last week in Wickes car park, with a trolley full of wood, then it started to rain, then i thought about trading it in, then it let me in. Spooky!
Second question is i've never noticed an alarm bleep wether it's locking or unlocking the doors, or going back to the car when it's been unlocked and opening a door. What should i expect? Can and has the alarm been disabled?

Have you put new batteries in.
And the alarm can be changed to beep on arm and disarm and other changes
But as far as I no you need to plug in to Allcoms or something similar to change car settings.
