First of all, Merry Christmas and a heppy new year to you all. I have a 1997 P38 4.6 HSE, and if it is left for a few days with the alarm on, the battery goes flat. Normally, this requires the key fob to be re-set, and I normally hold down the 'Lock' button on the key, insert it in the driver's door, turn it to the right still holding the 'Lock' button and then turn it back and remove it, still holding the button. This normally re-sets the key fob and then I do the windows and sunroof to get rid of the 35mph speed restriction.

Needless to say, it hasn't worked this time so does anybody have any ideas. I have heard of the emergency key access process, but where do you get the EKA code from.

The battery is flat so I have been powering with a jump pack rather than leads from another car, would it need a proper jump do you think? Any suggestions gratefully received, as I need to get it down to the garage to get the chuffing noise in the engine diagnosed.

Cheers guys

First step is a fully charged battery, they don't like low voltage, the ECU's don't respond. They also don't like being jumped, unless your leads are very heavy there is too much volt drop from a jump pack to get everything operational.
Slow 35mph is a suspension fault, you should never see that unless there is a hard suspension fault.
Then fix the battery drain problem, usually the RF receiver keeping the BECM awake.

EKA will either be kindly written on the handbook or you'll need to pop to your local LR Dealer with your V5C, ID and (as often times dealers will charge - evil bastids) your wallet - heard of £20 or so....

Once you have the EKA - you'll need to follow the process in the handbook to enter it....usually involves 4 turns to the Left to set the BeCM into EKA Mode, then it is a prescribed number of turns to the right, then left then right etc following the EKA Code....like a safe dial!!

EDIT: +1 to what Datatek said!!:D
