key broken

My mate has broken his key off and part of it is still in the barrell any ideas on how to get it out?

get yerself a broken key extractor. They only cost about £5.

Cant get them in italy (f#$%^ng wops)
suppose Id best make a couple out of hack saw blades!

No probs. Ideally you need two of em. (Or one pic and a very small electrical screwdriver) There is another type of extractor available too. It's like a very fine corkscrew. They are usually used for patio doors and upvc window locks but can be useful on cars with limited barrel access space.

just made 2 of em and twisted a fret saw blade like a corkscrew .
I keep telling him to get a real landy .Even the bloody keys are gay!!!

fook it bastard wont come out Ive got to get the barell out and change it

Mite be quicker, cheaper and less hassle to call a locksmith.

will the half of the key that you still have meet up with the bit thats broken in the lock? If so, apply some superglue to the end of your key and then lightly grease the sides of it. Insert your key into the barrel and hold it there until the glue has set. Fingers crossed the grease will have stopped the key getting stuck to anything else. I have used this method a few times with mixed results. If things are looking bad enough to get the slide hammer out then it's gotta be worth a shot first.

took the barrel off in the end the Italian locksmith tried for an hour then went to the bar and didnt come back!
I chiselled the sheer bolts out pulled out the lock pins and finaly managed to get the broken piece out. It was so bent that it would have been impossible to get it uot any other way.
turns out he shut the fekin key in his house door whch bent it and he thought that putting it (forcing more like) in the ignition would be the best way to straighten it out!!
anyhow he owes me a couple of beers now
