Hi, I'm disabled and find it hard to use the remote thingys, I was told by the bloke who sold me this the car that you only need the key, so i removed the horrid remote thing only to get in the car (already unlocked from the time I parked) and it would not start I just got a red key flashing at me, Now is there any way to start the car and use it without needing these stupid remote things? I thought the keys would have been chipped to turn the immob off but it does not seem to be, is this normal? if there is a way I can use just the key please let me know, thanks guys

The alarm fob has a transponder in it which a reader on the steering column will read you will still need it on the keys to start.you don't have to push the buttons will read automatically.

oh ok, can the transponder chip be removed and taped somewhere to save me having to carry the remote, it's just i have no arms and carry key in my shoe and the remote is too big!! hopefully i can make it so the chip is near enough the unit to start the car?

still a bit confused as if i press the button to unlock it starts even though the fob is NOT on the key, so is it 100% chipped so i dont need to press buttons?

Okay as your disco isn't an auto so you can fit the Immobiliser ecu ( spider) with a bypass lead enabling the engine to be permanently mobilised, you could also hard wire the two two circuits that the spider controls to immobilise the engine, so that will remobilise the engine, unfortunately more info on that has already been posted so like using the spider bypass you disco won't be that safe, if that is important to you.

Just as it should be, the ecu assume you going to start the engine straight away, so don't delay doing that otherwise your for fob will have tobe present near the ignition switch, more info on this is in the owners hand book.
