Hi, new to site but thought I would ask a question. I have a 2013 Freelander 2 with 48k and wonder if it's worth changing to Discovery sport. Seems a lot of money for another car and higher mileage. I like the freelander

Thoughts?

Welcome to the mad house.

Best question to ask yourself is this "what can the Discovery Sport do that my Freelander 2 can't?"

I think you will find the answer is absolutely nothing what so ever and all you end up with is another car that costs you more and offers nothing extra in return for the extra outlay.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do with your Freelander 2 exactly? Tow? or just a comfy family car?

Nothing the Freelander can do that the disco sport can do better :D

I'd keep the lander if it's just as a comfy vehicle.

Well I live in the countryside in Heefordshire and bought it to avoid getting stuck in winter, and it has done that for us last January. Maybe just wondering if I would get better fuel consumption and ride

Get one on a 48 hour demo, it will answer your questions, it’s all about how often you want to change your vehicle, and do you want to spend money?

Maybe better ride as DS is longer wheelbase but it will be heavier on fuel in comparison.

If you fancy a DS buy one or try an get one on hire for a weekend for side by side comparison.

There is a Listers Land Rover Dealer in hereford, Staniers Way IIRC..

they might give you a D5 experience.

Unless you need the 7 seats that the DS can offer, the DS doesn't do a whole lot more than the later FL2, after all they're all based on the same platform.

If yer want to keep owning newer vehicles then one day yer'll have ter move on. If yer don't then keep the FL2. Disco sport is eu6 so will have less restrictions int cities in later years. But that's some time away.

A few years ago I went to pick up some parts from LR and asked what was that car outside, he said the new discovery sport, my face was obviously blank as he then said the new freelander!

Are you sure you want to go through the "paperwork"? You know, like filling in forms, informing DVLA, informing car insurance, making sure you tax the new car, reading the manual to familiar yourself with the Sport, the through and stress of paperwork, all just for changing cars when you said "I like the freelander" which imply you like your Freelander so much that you would cry if you lose her.

Don't forget that it is not just money, but also time and effort put into checking the new car, test drive it, deal with paperwork, updating the insurance of the changes, and all that. You know what they say? "Time is money"
