If I ease off the throttle and then accelerate slowly, my disco kangaroos. Its bloody horrible driving through towns. Its always done it, but I always thought it was me and I will get used to driving the thing. I havent (an it int me).

I have had a search but most of the stuff I found was to do with the transmission. I am pretty sure this is engine/fuel related.
The timing is ok and nothing changed after I did the timing belt.

Anyone got any ideas..?

Have you checked for play in the uj's and diffs. It might be backlash on the drivetrain as you say its from on/off/on throttle at slow speeds.

Have checked the uj's and all seems ok, but gave the wheels a rock today and there is some sideways movement (both wheels) and a bit of a clonk. Would that be the wheel bearings..?
How do I check the diffs..? Do I need to get the cover off..?

Mmmm -

Maybe CV joint on swivel - inside the swivel ball is a QH type joint

if your lucky it's just the wheel bearing - but I doubt it

Stop driving on it - it'll let go big time and mega egg spence

Took the whole O/S part of the axle off this mornin. The cv joint seems ok, just a tiny bit of movement. All the splines look ok. The wheel bearings have a bit of movement, so I am replacing them, but they wern't too bad. I am replacing the swivel ball cos it was leaking bad n all pitted. I don't know why the drive shaft moved about like in the above vid, but I have ordered up a load of shims to pack it out. Fingers crossed n all that..

Had the same problems for over a week.
Changed fuel pump, replaced injector harness, serviced all filters and checked waste gate arm, movement fine.

My rock was ready to drive off a bridge.

I've been using www.discovery2.co.uk.

Clear description how to do many things (which I used to change fuel pump as I'm only a computer technician lol).

Found his page on solenoid (some people call waste gate modulator and many other names)

See WWW.discovery2.co.uk/waste gate.HTML

I was apprehensive that a solenoid could give me the kangaroo petrol syndrome as I call it.
Boy was I wrong!
Another 10 minute job and omg I have full power and speed. Can't believe something so small could cause problems so big and to think I nearly bought a new MAF sensor!

So anyway problem solved with no thanks may I say to nano com locator who I got no reply from any of them I emailed (Edinburgh guy).

I did get help from discovery2.co.uk and obviously lots of help from everyone here on landyzone.

So a big thank you to all of you on here, (its like a big family Lol)

Thanks all

Regards

Mikey

Thanks for the info :) Not sure if mine has one of those modulators, but I will look into it.
