Just wondering if anyones used any of these products, and if people would recommend one rather than the other?

My situation is after an overheating problem, new pump, rad, stat, headgasket it still overheats; so my only viable option is to scrap it, but someone mentioned trying one of these products as I have nothing to lose and it may spring some life back into it even for a short time.

alex if you going that road try irontite, it keeped mine going for 7 months..

hi j, yeah just trying to exhaust all options.... do you mean this stuff The Ultimate 3 Stage Block Sealer By IRONTITE Rover V8 on eBay (end time 30-Mar-10 14:17:31 BST) does it start to seal the cracks pretty much straightaway - the only reason I ask is that to make this stuff work it says you should run it for 3-4hours.... Ill be lucky to get it running for 10 minutes before it starts to overheat.

you must read the bottle and do as it says, to the letter, run it for 3 days drop it out and leave it to stand for 24 hours with no water in it, as i said it worked for me, and mine was the same overheating in 10 mins. dont think it will last for ever, use it to give yourself time to get a engine..

thats^^^^ brilliant stuff, i used it on several engines where customers couldnt afford the repair so opted for irontite. the oldest being an old v6 granada, i did it 6 years ago and the old girl is still going (falling apart around the engine).

cheers guys for that info I will get some ordered tomorrow; if I can get it working again just long enough whilst I sort out a new block etc and save up for it fitting its good enough for me.

arron as you have used it before are there any tips you would give me; I know as people have said the instructions are on the bottle, but often experience pays dividands compared with the instructions given.

its fairly simple to use realy, i always flush the system a few times before useing it to make sure all the antifreeze is out first. run it for three days with it in then take of the top and bottom hoses and get as much water out the block as you can (i use compressed air to blow in the top hose) then leave it for 24 hours. theres only been one car it didnt work on, that was an old montego with the perkins engine in, took the head of after to see why not and there was a crack like the gran canyon.

Hi i have used irontite as i had a leak but even my 4x4 specialist could not find it,only suggested a new engine [£3500] so i put some irontite in [£25] that was over a year ago towing a twin axle caravan as well , know harm giving it a go but do exactly as it says to the letyter, good luck . metropolis 2

cheers for thet metropolis2 ive got the irontite arriving tomorrow.... just need to solve my starting problem now to get the anti-freeze out of the system.... bloody P38's!!! I definatly have a love/hate relationship with my RR.
