Other K&N Air Filters?

My 'ole 4.6 has a K&N air filter, do they actually do anything beneficial or is it all bull****?

I've heard they can let dirt through and the oil can bugger up MAF sensors?

I ask because i've just inspected it and tbf it needs a good clean is it worth cleaning/saving?

I ran one in my disco 2. No difference whatsoever, not that I could feel anyway.

Stick a new paper filter in and change it regular
