has onyone any info on k and n air filters for defender 90 td5, is it worth doing, does it really increase mpg, power etc, is it just put em in and do nothing or do you have to tweek anything or mess about with stuff to compensate for the extra air intake.

depends, there more worth it to keep up the level of oommffff when you've put other stuff on.

the k&n does help running, but you cant really tell in a 2 tonne landy with extra's. our mpg went up a little with the disco's k&n

some may say good cos u can re-use them, but seein as a filter can cost upto a tenner norm form ****part, meh, s'up to you, k&n's one brand, pipercross do em too

I've got a ripspeed one. still a cone type one though. I might look at aftermarket inline filters for when I make a snorkel.

ere heffalump! keep your eye out on fleabay, sometimes proper land rover snorkel air filter boxes (oil type ones, but shorter and two nozzles) appear, i got on for the series

Not worth the money on a TD5, remove your EGR instead

K&N filters are not what you want for off road use. The oil clogs up very quickly on road (circa 2-3kmiles) and the oil/gauze type filters have air flow problems when clogged up (paper flows better than a dirty K&N filter). My advice would be to stick with paper its cheaper in the long run and you don't have to clean it.

if you over oil a gauze filter you can damage a hot wire AFM.
