****E!!!!!!

put one in on sunday.....

flat as a witches tit:eek:

wont pull away up hill unless in sport mode and takes ages to get up to speed!!

what a waste of money:mad:

got one in my 2000 td4 and it runs and go's well , has been fitted for 4 years and fits better and pulls better then with standard filter fitted

you did read the instructions and disconect the battery for a while then reconect so the air thingy adjusts to suit filter

Try to disconnect the MAF and see if any difference in behaviour. Seems to me your MAF is gone. (Had the same after I installed my K&N some years ago, the oil on the new filter did it in my opinion.) Have since cleaned (every 2 years) and (very scarcely) oiled mine and in combination with ming's tip to clean every year my maf it still works excellent. (Fingers crossed though) Good luck.
If by disconnecting the MAF you feel indeed a difference it means your maf is gone (or is on it's way to ..), as many other forummembers probably would advise as well I think you should contact roverron for help/information.

27. Will a K&N filter cause my vehicle’s mass air sensor to fail?

No, it is both impossible and ridiculous.

It is impossible because we know that the oil treatment on our cotton is very small (usually less than 2 ounces). Once the oil is properly and evenly absorbed through the cotton, no oil will come off, even under extreme engine conditions. It is ridiculous, because no dealership or service provider has ever been able to provide us with evidence to support this “myth,” and in fact, our investigations have revealed that even authorized dealerships are simply speculating and do not have the test equipment necessary to know whether the sensor has failed or why. It is even more ridiculous because some car manufacturers use and sell air filters treated with oil on a regular basis. There are also major brands of disposable air filters that are treated with oil. We all use oil for the same reason, it helps in the filtration efficiency of an air filter.

i,m sure in my instructions that you had to drop battery lead off for 20 mins to reset air thingy

my td4 had it's MAF replaced under warranty as it was running very flat just like you described :(

i think fitting the k & n just finished the MAF senser off

with new senser and K & n my td4 pulled like a train :D

ER. . . .so willo un the rest of us is all barkin. . . .um dunt fink so, un air thingy dissconection? wot planet are you on ,even int zog we know this is total ****e :D

put old filter back in and the car pulls like a train!

had a corsa that was the same, put a induction kit on it and the EWL light up and the car would't run!!

missus had a K&N on her mini fos 2 years with no bother.

gonna forget the idea!

anyone wanna buy a K&N wi about 30 miles on it?

Did you take the cardboard cartridge in the middle of the filter out ?? Air must be able to go through you know ??? :D :D :D
And re being impossible to f.... up the maf with a K&N, well, which site said it's impossible ?? And have read several guys having had the same problem, coïncidence exists but in that amount ?????? Did you try to disconnect the maf after all to see whether a difference ?? (Not that with the K&N I noticed a huge difference, if any difference at all but at least I don't have to buy any new airfilter anymore, cleaning every 2 years is more than enough for me as only doing less than 10.000 kms per year....

:D :D :D He he

Andytd4auto, you are supposed to take the packaging off ;)

No, seriously, is it panel or cone type?

K&N's need to be enclosed with induction kit, Cone K&N's suffer from heat soak, thats why you need an enclosed system and good cold air induction.

I know in the 1.8 k-series has funnel type fitting in the air box.
removing this funnel gives better air flow and turbulance. Not sure of the internals on the Td4, can someone confirm this?

Hi NI,

This is the 'old' airfilter I took out when replaced by the K&N (still lying in the attick, taken picture there), the air comes from the back and goes through the filter from the outside to be directed via the middle (inside) of the filter through the big hole in front towards the MAF etc..... The filter is located in the airfilter housing which is a completely closed box with an air inlet tube one side and the outlet towards the maf and engine at the other side

Hi ming,

What's next to that filter ? Something familiar to you by any chance ???:D :D :D (Dad's army stuff, a Tommy helmet.....:p :p :p )
