hello all, just a quick intro now I've worked out how to nav the page. Greetings from Gods country (Cornwall), I own a FL1 54Td4, think it was built on a Friday, but I do enjoy driving it. Has all the usual strange issues, most I have tackled, the latest is the injection pump and the wipers that have a mind of their own. Looks a great page, with lots of info, best regards Andy

Welcome to LZ! :)

What part of Kernow do you live in?

I wish that was the case now, Cornwall has become the retirement capital of UK

Always was, along with some other places, like the South Hams, and parts of the South Coast. UK is an ageing population, so there are a lot of retired people around.

What has really pushed the prices up is that Cornwall became "cool", during the Blair years, because of the infestation of Rock and Padstow by the princes and other hoorays. And that, in it's turn, caused numerous well heeled nobs to buy holiday homes in the county.

You are right there, costs have rocketed, it's even expensive for us locals to go town these days, crazy world!

The missus is a Scillonian but works in Plymouth, so have to periodically venture into England, I try to stay on the Kernow side, less hectic.

I don't mind England, my mother is English. It was the D word to which I was referring! ;)

I have been to the IOS a few times, very nice, but even more expensive than the mainland.

Transport costs to the islands are very high, would retire there tomorrow if given the chance though.

I used to go on the helicopter, a fantastic sightseeing trip in it's own right, and only took about 40 minutes. Shame they built a supermarket on the heliport! :(
It isn't only the personal transport costs that are high, everything carries a premium on the islands.
My mate was a digger driver, and he did a lot of work for SWEB. It was cheaper for SWEB to transport him, and his JCB, to the Scillies, and pay for his accomodation when they needed work doing over there than to pay the local driver's rates!

Heliport is back! Over towards Lands End now. Yes, there are some on the islands who are descendants of pirates, and charge accordingly

Pleased about the heliport. Last I heard they were trying to build one at St. Erth, but the locals were objecting.

Does that fly out of Land's End airport, same as the fixed wing?
