My 300 tdi has been running great in this cold snowy weather-picked up the other half this eve, when I got to her,noticed I had a new ticking sound-increases with revs.Lifted bonnet and sounds like Air con comp area,so took off aircon belt -noise still there,sounds like injection pump area-deffo not tappets-did a search and found someone with similar issue-suggesting it could be the vacuum servo pump-if it is this pump,do they carry on noisey ok,or will it fail suddenly-hopefully not the injection pump going home.
