well 2 tins of oven cleaner and 3 pint of petrol later :mad:cleaned out manifold
and pipes.
all done, egr looked blocked up and coked so i will see what diffrence it makes :D now its removed

I just cleaned mine and put it back, will have to check it again someday to see what its like.

I was quite dirty when I took it off, manifold was clogged too, a few tins of gunk and a jet washer and its mostly clear now.

Just make sure you don't use the ovencleaner method on your front lawn as I've found out the hard way that most fiances dont like dead grass!

how long did it take rhodie? Thinking about doing it myself and then bypassing it by slipping an ali plate through it.

looks scary when you have the manifold off dont it...dont let anything drop into the inlets!! :O)

Wish I had worn a pair of pansy gloves when I changed my EGR valve, would have saved me from having hands like a chimney sweep (no offence to chimney sweeps :))

Just a sideline query, why is there two inlet ports for each cylinder from the manifold to the head?

TD4 has 8inlet valves..2 inlet valves per cylinder :O)

why the bottom are square and top round is beyond me though!
Probably because oil from the turbo/intercooler is forced to the bottom of the manifold as the air flows through it and hence why the bottom square ports are more gummy? anyone guess really?
