just got my V8 and i have a couple of questions

Hi all,

I finally have managed to find what i was after!

Yesterday i picked up my 1965 series 2a V8.

Its in pretty good nick but on the way home (4.5 hours) i noticed a few things i think i better sort out sooner rather than later, i wonder if anyone can help me sort out whats wrong?

1) Temp gauge is in the red all the time. And no, the engine wasnt overheating (well within normal limits). I take it this is a sender issue?

2) speedo accuracy. I estimate its at least 10mph down on actual speed (ie.reads 50 when doing 60). I assume its a calibration issue but if the G/box is std (i dont know yet) surely this should still read correctly?

3) Fuel gauge....It wafts casually between full and zero . New gauge?

Apart from these little things that could stop the fun (overheating, run out of fuel and gaining points!) i love it!

1) possibly, but could be regulator (see 3 below)
2) what size tyres are on it?
3) more likely a sender or regulator problem

i'll check out the regulators e.t.c before forking out on new non oem gauges.

Wheels and tyres are standard size...however i want to up then eventually to bigger off roaders. Not sure how big i can go without mods to suspension.

What do you 'think' is the standard sie then?

Standard size on an 88" is 6.00X16 or the metric 205R16
Standard size on an 88" is 7.60X16 or the metric 235/85R16

fit 235's on a swb and the speedo will under read by 10%...... sounds like what yours does.....
