hi

you may recall my posts a couple of weeks ago asking all sorts of advice - well i listened, read, looked, read some more, took test drives and looked some more.

the important words were chassis, engine, chassis, transmission, chassis and just in case i forgot chassis.

well i have put a deposit on a '95 300tdi 90 estate with 2 owners and 65k on the clock. it is in really good condition, 4 folding seats in the back, sunroof, radio, good tyres and a roof lining!.........oh the chassis etc is rock solid and waxoiled. was owned by a leasing company and pretty well fully serviced$ as far as i can see.

can you tell me how i can tell the difference between a Defender estate and a County station wagon?

wish me luck - i'm collecting it next saturday

Excellent, give us PICCIES - we loves piccies!!! Sounds like you got yerself a good one!

The CSW is just a different trim level but defenders by their nature change throughout their lives so the only sure thing is what you see is what you get! If in doubt check the VIN number which will give you some (un-definitive) idea about what the car started life as.(there's a fred in the common questions and problems bit about this i think) - remember it's easy enough to change anything into what is effectively a CSW as they are easy cars to work on!

Good luck, hope all goes well and PICS PICS PICS!!! The 300 is a cracking engine

Yeah, County is a nicer trim version.

All "estates" are more properly called Station Wagons.

CSW will have fabric seats rather than vinyl, for example.

Cheers
