Got first aid kit and fire extinguisher.

Landy has factory fit towbar. Just looking at the jate rings now. Where do they fit on without meaning to sound stupid. Obviously under rear on chassis but where exactly? I'll hopefully get it up on the ramps tomorrow for a proper look :D

Tyres are Fecking huge on this! Need to raise the thing eventually. Don't really want to cut the arches back

And I'll look at the valance tomorrow. I have a die grinder here that I can snip the front end caps with.

Have a look at this pic

Picasa Web Albums - big_stu_12 - Landyzone

it will show you where the Jate ring goes at the rear, but one each side.

did a couple of lanes, one we gave up on as it got very narrow, and did not want to risk it in the dark, lol

what size tyres are they?

I've signed up to the slroc forum.

Could I attend an event as a non member and pay on the day?

Its not a pay and play, its a driving day as the name suggests, you have to be a member to drive on the course, as has been said earlier in the thread you can turn up and join on the day, but may only be able to drive on the course after joining and going through Scruntinerring.

NON MEMBERS can NOT Drive the course, but can be passangers of have a look see whats happening.

If your local, then its realy a no brainer ie

Membership £25 then £10 per driving day, if you went for 5 driving days in a year it would cost £75. your got trained marshals, controled enviroment. you get to meet people with the same interest in landrovers, and you can take part in other events not just driving day, and you get full access to fourm. You also have people that will worry how you get home if something goes wrong.......

If you go to Bures pits for 5 Pay and Plays day @ £30 it would cost £150 plus extra juice, Marshals but theres not much control. for example no scrutinering, you just take any wreck and roar round, also most people that have played there find that the sand there kill breaks, alternators, ect due to being so course.

I have done both, and think I know where I prefere to play now, I will still do the odd day doing pay and plays at places like Bures and Chelmsford.

I have only been to a meet twice and been made welcome, and loads of advice given as well.

Spent this morning and early afternoon with the hammers out and ended up with this.....

Valance gone, jates added and stupid dented side steps removed. I also changed the fuel filter. And added an internal/external Lidl special temperature gauge thinggy.

It wasn't all good though........ found a power steering leak :-(

Underneath however looks spotless (apart from the huge amounts of mud). No rust that I can see :D Which makes a Transit van owner very happy indeed :D

So I just need to sort out leaking sunroof(s) and dicky electric window rear n/s then all the niggles will be fixed.

I also plan to break out the welder and knock up a few sliders from scaffold poles when it gets a little warmer.

hey thats good you'll be wanting to get her muddy now on some deep stuff with us lot now, :D:D:D

one thing you want to think about is the steering arms are a bit exposed, so you might want to get so HD arms or even better a steering gaurd

Be good to meet you soon.

:D Steering guard is being made at the moment :p and diff guards are on their way :)

Looks better, I must get my side steps off soon, dented to  but I guess they are taking the pounding rather than the side of the truck?

I've only been stuck twice so far and both time I was grounded out (deep ruts).

Are you going to the driving day on Sunday?
I'm planning to unless their is a big group doing some lanes (Essex lanes thread).

Got to find some money. Just had to buy a load of timber for a project. Along with a few customers that still haven't paid = skint until further notice.

If I can pay on the day then I might pop down and play. Who is the contact for all of the SLROC stuff?

Newbourne course isn't damaging is it? Need to use the Landy daily at the moment and can't be doing with parts bills

Bumper removed. Awaiting a new HD non-winch one.

Where did you get your bumper from? new or 2nd hand?

BTW when you removed your side steps, did you leave the brackets on?
I have got the steps off but as it was getting dark left the brackets in place, but thinking about it they likely to get bent back and maybe cause damage?

They looked like they are attached between the body and the outrigger.

Bumper came from here Heavy Duty Bumper for Discovery 1 I think he is a guy on this forum ;)

Also going to get some of his sliders when funds allow :)

I just ripped the steps off leaving the brackets as like you, the dark fell and I couldn't see what was going on. I will remove them when I come to weld in some new sills and add the sliders. Or offroading might remove them for me. Whichever happens first :D

Just had a great quote for the welding which I am going to go with. 2 new sills and repairs to the outer arches on both sides.

He is also going to waxoyl it :D

FANTASTIC!!!!!

Once that is done, I'll repair the sunroof(s) and I should have a fully working disco :D :D :D

Suspension lift after all of that.

The reports are good on the guys kit, I will prob be looking at a set of rock sliders from him when I get some.

My plan too.

Watching Discodad's videos again and my sills take a good pounding a few times

I'm more interested in the side protection. Saw a woman in a Range Rover Vogue (new one) scrape (I mean hit) a low yellow post in the NCP today...... don't even think she noticed

don't even think she noticed

I bet her husband does:lol:

I agree on the rock sliders, I also like the look of his tank guard / towbar and will be parting with money - when i have some that is:(

Managed to get under mine for an hour before it got to dark (grinder, bolt = success). Noticed my nearside sill has a small dent in. I'll be interested to see the sliders fitted to see what is any protection it offers under the sill. Hopefully someone will let me nose at the next SLROC day.

PS - if you wanted a new bumper you could have had mine:p

See ya soon.

I wanted a mans bumper :D Check out his site. His disco is hanging off a forklift. It is how he washes underneath apparently

Will be at next SLROC day but will have a load of cousins in tow. I wish I'd never shown them your videos...... ha ha ha.... they'll have to all wear high viz though lol!

I'd like to do some lanes too. We NEED to get a weekend up and sorted ;)

I'm not doing any water though..... scarred for life me

Forgot I opened this tread lol!

New bumper on.....

A terrafirma 2" lift kit has been ordered and should be here tomorrow. Hoping to get it on before the weekend.

Tree sliders have been purchased but they're still being made :(

I've got a chequer plate rear door card to go on when I get time. And chequer plate for bottom of wings, doors and quarter panels will be sorted soon when I next get some disposable cash.

I've started fabbing up a rear super duper heavy duty bumper from HUGE box section.

Lots and lots to do!!

Oh and I spent a few minutes playing today to see what my saggy old suspension does when the drivers side is driven up a huge ramp. 265/75 tyres on. Still had a few more inches to drive up but I wouldn't have been able to get out the door!!

Rear drivers side.

Whilst it's great to see someone like yourself with incredible enthusiam and passion for your hobby, please don't make the all too common mistake of putting so much kit on your landy that it ends up being way too heavy, thus compromising it's on/off road ability - it was already good in original format. ;):)
Wouldn't want to have a head on crash with you either, not with that front bumper..........it's huuuuuuge! :D:D
