Just a Fw Questions

Hi all

Im a new discovery owner and find this site useful. I have a 1997 Discovery Es 300TDi Manual. I have a few questions

1. Why is the idle speed lower when started from cold than when from hot? its just under 1000 when hot and under 500 when cold

2. It has a cat on but front pipe is knackered can i put the pipe in with no cat.

3. The windscreen wipers won't park properly, they just stop as soon as you turn switch, no matter where they are on screen. Any Ideas??

1. not sure without looking at it!!!
2. you should replace it with a cat otherwise it may fail MOT on emissions
3. turn the wipers off and check for an ignition feed to the wiper motor park switch, if the feed is there then its a motor fault.

If the wiper electrics are the same as a 90 then there is a chance it's the connectors on the wiper motor wiring corroded and not making a decent connection.

my 97 300tdi manuel ES ticks over just under 1000 all the time hot or cold

Cat is not required for a diesel MOT, so remove it and gain a little power!!!!

Front down pipe is cheap to replace, there are some cheap new ones on Ebay (or were when I last looked), but LR Independents can normally get these for under £100.
