Hi folks
I hope there's someone out there who knows a simple cure for an annoying problem. My HI / LOW lever on my S3 transfer box keeps jumping out of high ratio and into a neutral between hi and low ratio. It doesn't jump out of low box, only HI so if I'm on the road its jumping out.:doh:
I still have 4 wheel drive in high ratio and also in low and the yellow knob still does its stuff too. The main gearbox is fantastic and smooth.
The red lever has to be pushed really far forward and held there or when you set off it jumps backward and into zero drive. The only way to get it back in high ratio is to stop and push it forward again.
Drove me mad for days.
As a quick fix I've fabricated a threaded rod that attatches to the hi/lo lever under the red knob and pushes against the seat base and therefore keeps the lever jammed forward. Its not ideal but it works.
My last gearbox died so i managed to get a replacement box which i then fitted( with much swearing and cursing)! The problem was noticed after a few weeks of use.
Has anyone any ideas why it keeps jumping back and is it a simple fix???
Hope so cos everyone reckons its gonna be the worst winter in years and I really need this sorting before it starts snowing.
