Hi All

I am seeking advice for this problem because the car is going in to the garage on Monday, but as I'm driving across Spain & back in a week (lot's of mountains!), I want to grab some advice so I can ensure I ask the garage to explore all possibilities.

The problem is as follows; From cold, no problems at all - driving to work I have about a mile on local roads then onto a fast A road. Steering & braking are all fine. However, after a random amount of time, but after say 10 miles with some stop start traffic, the steering wheel shudders badly - if I'm braking or not, at all speeds, even down to 10mph. The judder frequency is dependant on the speed. If I then drive on slow roads it seems to dissapear after a few minutes. Another possible small bit of info is that when I reverse, my brakes squeal.

My thoughts are as follows

1 Warped disc on the front, that is worse when the disc gets hot
2 Sticking caliper AND warped disc

Under normal circumstances I would be happy to let the garage get on with it and see how it pans out over a couple of weeks, but I would rather not find out that their fix has failed half way across Spain :)

FYI, it's a 2004 RR Vogue 4.4 with about 40,000 miles, was main dealer serviced about 5 weeks ago and there is plenty of meat on the pads

Many thanks in advance, all advice appreciated

Cheers

i would go with option 2,just get the pads /discs replaced, and the calipers if found to be at fault.costly but necessary in my opinion considering the journey you are about to undertake.
