My Disco has developed a severe judder when I pull away in 1st. It doesn't always happen but is getting more common. It doesn't appear to happen when changing up through the gears, just when pulling away, any suggestions what this might be?

Also as I do not have the facilities for a major repair an idea of what the cost will be at the garage.

Thanks

Neil

what gratec says ^^^^^
it is possible for diesel to get on to the clutch from the fuel pressure regulator but it could be the duel mass flywheel on its last legs but if its getting worst then its a new clutch job £100 for a clutch £250 for a flywheel looking at around £5-600

there is no A frame on a td5

Hi there,

my experience points to oil contamination of the clutch. I bought a 2000 TD5 ES a few months ago which had done a couple of hundred miles in the last 6 months. When I bought it it juddered on first gear when pulling away but this gradually went in a few weeks and now has no judder at all. I put this down to oil contamination of the clutch as it had sat around with the previous owner and dealer I bought it from and it burnt off with use.

Does it occur more often the longer it has not been used? If its getting worse then you need to ask the guys on here how oil gets onto the clutch and check that out.

Regards

Thanks for all the responses. Driven 200 miles today, the judder comes and goes so I will see if a pattern develops.
