So I just had a service and the problems have started.....the turbo hose split and I replaced that, but now its a classic case of TD4 lack of power.......

So, as a definitive list of what I should do now.....

1. Crankcase breather...replace with new BMW plastic one ASAP
2. check the turbo solenoid by removing the pipe and trying uphill at 70mph

What else?

Ive been searching and it seems there are a lot of potential causes of this trouble........Where do I locate the MAF? and whats this aboutm disconnecting it and it working ok??

help!!

I don't know where to look for that filter?

Ive just changed the crankcase breather as per the post on this forum......all went well, but it was scary with all those bits off!

so.....where (in numpty terms!) is the fuel filter??

)

If its pre- MY2002 its under the Engine ECU LH side of the engine bay.

If its MY2002 and later its under the rear offside wheen arch.

mine's a my04.....so is it hidden behind the lump of plastic that hides the fuel pump? Or is it in full view?

Cheers

Do a search on here for Changing TD4 fuel filter ,there's a good description of where the filter is and how to change it.

Thats it, it sits in the same cradle as the fuel pump.
To access your MAF conector, you'll need to take off the air filter cover & the MAF sits on the left hand side exiting the filter, have a good read of roverrons site below. You'll need some long reach allen keys for the air filter cover though. MAF issues tend to affect lower down the rev range but can be troublesome all over if they fail completely.
One other point worth considering is that you probably had to unscrew & move the injector wiring harness over when doing your breather. These are known to have troublesome connectors & Landrover does sell an updated injector wiring loom at a reasonable cost so it may be worth first checking out the connectors to see if they are ok.
