Have a map with loads of lanes marked, but they're on a paper map, marked in pen and I haven't transferred them to Memory Map yet. The above was when we camped at Goathland. Brillliant area. We also trialled at Whitby (RTV) and Wykeham and have done the Langdale Quest thing a few times, were an 'Extreme club' member for a year ... ;)

Langdale has closed now :( and there's been that much damage caused to the lanes by ****ers who should know better. That the National Park Authority are considering doing a Yorkshire dales type mass TRO. Watch this space..

I'd heard it might be .. something to do with unauthorised access and use by bikers? I could be wrong thobut ...

Yeah. The pic was from I was there in 2006 (maybe 05) with Lincolnshire Landrover Club for a weekend. Three groups of four vehicles (only three in my group though) all split up did different lanes each day, wonderful lanes with everything from rocky open moorland (as the pic) to close forest/tree-lined byways, and lots of technical stuff up and down the hills and loved it, so that'd be a real shame.

Trouble is many 4x4 clubs don't help themselves. LLC are the only one I've been with that have actually repaired sections. (Before anyone flames me for that I know there are many more that do, but of the four I've been with in the last ten years or so only LLC did anything actually constructive). I spent a couple of days with them repairing a section in Lincs of the Fosse Way (I think) ... Deep ruts, widened by people going round, developed into a quagmire that nothing could get through. They hired a mini excavator and with the councils blessing just got on, dug it up, re-laid it level (ish) and self-imposed a voluntary 4x4 ban, with explanatory notices, for the winter months to let it settle.

At least I think it was Lincs Landy Club, could have been another ... seems ages ago now ... ;)
