The best looking RRC's were the 2dr models in my opinion, a P38 holds its own styling wise when sat next to a 4dr RRC ;)
Nowt to mention the majority of classic land rover owners that slate the P38 have never driven one, and once you do you can't deny its a lovely motor, as for complexity it debuted in 1994 - 2001 in terms of complexity it is on par with a softdash RRC, not nearly as complex as the naysayers would have you believe.

And as for depreciation I float around in my P38 with the same feeling, it is appreciating quite nicely. :)

Me dad had a B reg classic in light blue in the late 90's. 4 door 3.5 with air con. Standard spec so he had good use of his AA card.

Thank you that is very kind.

I have owned two P38'S a 4.6 and a 4.0, both cost me thousands in the first 6 months of ownership. I have been very fortunate with my Classic, absolutely no rust at all. Th most I have spent on it was a gearbox and repainting in ownership of 25 years.

I'm guessing that the thousands were spent at garages ;)

To be fair I've owned mine for 4yrs now and I can't really think of anything on the P38 that would amount to thousands in such a short period, unless you're replacing major components like the Valvebody and compressor instead of rebuilding it!

But from experience a mechanic won't sit at an hourly rate and rebuild a valveblock with a £30 set of O-rings he'd much rather buy a new valveblock at £900 or a genuine compressor for £400

Thats where the P38 gets its "expensive to maintain mantra" from...

The 4.6 I had two months when the engine overheated with a cracked block which I suspect the seller knew about. Got it replaced at Henlys main dealer in Park Royal at a cost of nearly £7000, I had the cash at the time. Did not trust it after repair so sold it at a loss part ex for a 4.0 County. 4 months later the gearbox gave up the ghost along with the air compressor. The warranty was only 3 months back then so had to pay for it myself again. Don't know why I bought any of them at the time as I had the Classic then as well.

Your lucky, if she was a P38 anything wrong in the drivers door is enough to send it into hysterics lol
