The best looking RRC's were the 2dr models in my opinion, a P38 holds its own styling wise when sat next to a 4dr RRC ;)
Nowt to mention the majority of classic land rover owners that slate the P38 have never driven one, and once you do you can't deny its a lovely motor, as for complexity it debuted in 1994 - 2001 in terms of complexity it is on par with a softdash RRC, not nearly as complex as the naysayers would have you believe.

And as for depreciation I float around in my P38 with the same feeling, it is appreciating quite nicely. :)

Me dad had a B reg classic in light blue in the late 90's. 4 door 3.5 with air con. Standard spec so he had good use of his AA card.

To be fair lockets Classic is the one we would all want even though we all cherish buttercup
Thank you that is very kind.

I have owned two P38'S a 4.6 and a 4.0, both cost me thousands in the first 6 months of ownership. I have been very fortunate with my Classic, absolutely no rust at all. Th most I have spent on it was a gearbox and repainting in ownership of 25 years.

I'm guessing that the thousands were spent at garages ;)

To be fair I've owned mine for 4yrs now and I can't really think of anything on the P38 that would amount to thousands in such a short period, unless you're replacing major components like the Valvebody and compressor instead of rebuilding it!

But from experience a mechanic won't sit at an hourly rate and rebuild a valveblock with a £30 set of O-rings he'd much rather buy a new valveblock at £900 or a genuine compressor for £400

Thats where the P38 gets its "expensive to maintain mantra" from...

The 4.6 I had two months when the engine overheated with a cracked block which I suspect the seller knew about. Got it replaced at Henlys main dealer in Park Royal at a cost of nearly £7000, I had the cash at the time. Did not trust it after repair so sold it at a loss part ex for a 4.0 County. 4 months later the gearbox gave up the ghost along with the air compressor. The warranty was only 3 months back then so had to pay for it myself again. Don't know why I bought any of them at the time as I had the Classic then as well.

Well, I was cherishing Buttercup today on a rare motorway run, sun was shining, blossom trees in flower, fields of oil seed rape, all very scenic.
Got to destination ages ahead of time, pulled up to car park barrier and I had to get the doris to operate the ticket machine cos the fecking drivers window decided to throw a hissy fit. :(:(:(
Ba s tarding feckin thing. And the first time out since new front dampers, I mean to say, come on, wheres the love................:mad::mad::mad:

Your lucky, if she was a P38 anything wrong in the drivers door is enough to send it into hysterics lol
This morning just about to start getting to the back of the switches, try it first, aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddddd it all works again. So put that off for another day, I hate intermittant faults. Anyway, all's right with the world again. :):)
