jatco box td4 and v6

Without looking them up, I would think not, because the torque and power outputs are different so the gearing and change points are likely to be different

You could try ashcroft transmissions. They're the best when it comes to the jatco.

Well he would be very bothered when he finds it changes gear in all the wrong places and road speeds - if it even fits, which I'd doubt.

Then, if he tries to sell it, he'd be very bothered by the purchaser when they find out what he's done
 
they are deffo different - check the serial number which starts "PR" then will have 3 digits, ie PR006, this number is dot punched on the top of the gearbox near the small breather pipe on the far right as you look under the bonnet.

I think the OP's after swapping the alumininiuminumuinm casing over from the v6 auto to the td4 auto.

I was good with kinder surprise when I was a kid, so surely this would be just as easy? Problem is, unless we can find the v6 and td4 cases for sale, none of us would know if they're the same. The contents are certainly different.

Ashcroft are well respected when it comes to the Freelander auto. They sell re-con auto's on an exchange basis. They have your old one as part of the deal. Make sure your friend doesn't give his away. Also keep the torque convertor with it too.

Just noticed quite a few auto's on ebay too. But you don't know their history which could be a bad thing.
