I've done it again (jumped without looking)

I've bought some spots for my 2002 TD4, with angel eye/main beam... have no idea how to wire

Any kind soul got any tips (aside from connect them to the hairdryer socket, etc.) :p

connect them to the hair straightener socket ! lol

angel eyes on a freelander !!! :S

either way you should have at least 3 cables in each new light.

one will be 0V / ground
one will be angel eyes / side lights positive
one will be high beam positive

connect to angel eyes to freelanders side lights and then spot beams to freelanders high beam. simples !

then just use a tester on the freelander wiring to find out which one is 0v, side lights and high beams. you will have 4 to choose from lol

have fun :)

chuck in a relay for good measure too....
Don't use scotchlocks, make proper connections; it'll save you grief in the future.

Yea good point
Take a new feed from the battery and use the relay to switch the spots on from the freebie electrics

Saves putting extra load on your wiring loom

Solder connections are the best IMO

Does the freelander have any spare live feeds in the fuse box I can feed
from? When adding a relay are there any spare sockets for the relay or will I need to mount this somewhere. Finally, I assume I need a relay that is live when sidelights are on and switches when main beam is on (lamps have two feed wires, one for angel eyes and one for spot - which I'll have come on when on main beam - there's no dipped lights on the spots just the hairdresser halo and driving lamps).

Thanks, as always, for the help.

Personally, I'd add my own fused feed and wiring so I know it's up to the job. An extra load on your factory wiring could cause a melt down - seen it happen before.

There's some easy to follow wiring diagrams out there, I would also be tempted to add a relay between the sidelight circuit and the angel eye bits for added peace of mind. On my Syncro the headlight wiring is notoriously poor so most of us have uprated the looms with additional relays; it makes an amazing difference and lessens voltage drop giving as near 12v as possible at the bulbs.

Have a look at Ring Automotive and click on installation for a good clear example.

Hope that helps

indeed it does, top left of the fuse box are 3 pins coming out which can be connected to with a crimp spade terminal, one is permanent live, one is ignition live, used both of them on mine, not sure if their fused though so fit in line fuse if you use them.

good luck
