Well went to look at another Freelaner and decided she was the one for me so picking her up tomorrow.

Bit of a risk as its the 1.8 but you pays yyour proce n takes your chances :S

Shes got 73k on clock with SH up to 60k.
Had new clutch and head gasket done last year so hoping its been done right,
3 door in the champagne colour
Will get some pics sorted tomorrow.
PLans for her, well just maintain her shes not going off road thats what my tys for this is a daily driver so minimal changes, may loook into heated seats, buying the softtop for summer etc.

Going to check the vcu propely with breakwer bar, did the reverse test and seemed ok but iv not been in many freelanders to know difference

So questions until i get my haynes book of lies,

- What oil amounts and types do i need

- Anything else i should change, plugs, leads etc...or just live by the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it"?

Cheers

Engine oil is 10/40 semi or full synthetic.
What year is it?
plugs are due at 72K iirc although they should have been changed when the HG was changed?
IRD 75/90 gl5
Gearbox MTF94
rear diff ep80 gl5
Good luck with it ;)

its 2003, they should have been done but il probably do them anyway

:welcome:

cheers, depending how well she does depends how long i stay in the freelander section haha

A 2000MY only had 2 leads iirc so not much you can change there. I find NGK iridium plugs work well. Avoid standard copper cored plugs, they don't last.

cool, not had a proper look at engine to play yet as just had the usual scout round for mayo under filler, water levels and any other leaks etc..il be giving her a good going over this week as im off for a few days now

think the vcu might actually be screwed after all :( doing the test tomorrow with wheel in air..

how much water. .if any should they use on average?

that's fine just wanted to check :D

when doing the reverse test for vcu, how fast/slow should you go to see if it feels like hand brake Is on?

Sorted it somehow hadnt quote gone in gear phew...1m breaker bar approx 6kg of weight (14lb) took 37 seconds to do the 45degrees..so of iv read rightly im safe (ish) for now.

Thank god for that lol...just meed go get her some new shoes as hers are low..

and she will be fine then hopefully...

did coolant change today and noticed in the header what looked like copper sludge/fileings...jot alot..any body had this? Cleaned it all out so see how I go.

Get 4 matching tyres to reduce VCU ageing. If you have copper filings, that's the remnants of a product called K Seal. It's a get you home type cooling system sealer.
